Last Sunday, in Ukraine, I met a young man who has been internally displaced. For those not in the know, ‘internally displaced’ essentially means being made a refugee in your own country. 3.7 million Ukrainians have been internally displaced since the Russian invasion of their country two years ago - forced to flee their home towns and villages, which have now become occupied or are on the front line of the fighting.
I'm just catching up on some of these that I've missed. This one felt very apt for me today. We're just heading into the second week of our Easter hols today, and tomorrow, my ex takes our 3 beautiful kiddies to Lanzarote for a week. So I'm feeling quite down and emotional, but I really need to focus on the positives, use the time wisely and not sit and wallow!
I look forward to hearing about your lessons from travel, especially in Ukraine. It is heartening to hear about this young man and the other stories of joy and celebration in the middle of the war you have been sharing with us. We learn through you the various lenses through which we can see the world.
