Yes! And for years I thought of him every time I heard that song (which I whistled on that hike). Today's Wonderstruck spurred that memory — thank you!
WONderful! So many parallels with my life (except I grew up in Dallas, feeling from the age of 10, when JFK was assassinated 10 miles from my home, that THIS would be a nuclear target; and when I was 14, traipsing through a forest not far from San Francisco on family vacation, my father refused to take us to that den of iniquity — but a cute fellow hiker from there winked at me when I asked if people really wore flowers in their hair there). Later, I too fell in love with the writings of Armistead Maupin whilst learning to become a writer. Fortunately, I got to the enchanted city when I was 23, and have returned many times.
Full circle moments are precious, especially when it takes as long as your journey to get there; as are we who recognize and celebrate them. Thanks for sharing yours with us! You make Sundays more special!
Ah, thank you so much for sharing your San Francisco story, I loved reading it, especially the magical wink in the forest. I bet your 14 year old self treasured that moment! ❤️
Fabulous full circle story!! And that bathroom! I once scrawled my name and someone else’s but it’s long gone by now! You wrote yourself into this moment!!
Siobhan, you look so so happy and sound like you're indeed living your best life 💗
You sound as free as a bird and it helps myself (others too I'm sure) to briefly escape through your travels.
Ps. Were there any hunky fireman during the fire alarm? 👨🚒😁
Haha, I was so dazed from sleep and shock I didn't really focus on the firemen 😄 such a wasted opportunity! ❤️
I'm sure they're were focused on your cranberry Muffin 🤭🤭🤭
