Morning Siobhan .

Sorry this is a tad long especially when you're busy

Every good wish for your Portuguese launch. Watching yesterday's commemorative ƁBC Holocaust programme, and the heroism of the now elderly people whose mere presence and quiet dignity lit up the screen,

one of the participants said something like 'in many ways 'I'm still in Auschwitz"... you can't come in, and neither should you, but you can witness!' Your book is a testament, and important witness.

My sign is a Red Kite by the way.

Thank you so much, we had a lovely and very moving evening here in Lisbon last night commemorating the Holocaust. The general consensus was that with everything currently going on in the world we need to remember what happened more than ever 🙏 The red kite is a beautiful sign to have ❤️

Thank you for sharing this story! I love how you used these symbols to guide your decisions even if it meant doing something you didn’t want to do! Very powerful! Love how the pineapples lead you to believe Lisbon was the right choice, too! Reading about how you’re so well received and enjoying Lisbon is so wonderful! Looking forward to traveling there someday soon as well! I still keep laughing at your Dad’s joke~~ perfect title that didn’t match what I thought this newsletter would be about though 😂

Unreal how all those owls kept coming to in soooo many ways! Crazy!

This 70-year-old North Carolina writer generally lolls about in bed until well after 8 each morning, but today I awoke at 7, felt rested and got up despite the grayness of the day. While waiting for my coffee to drip, the kitchen was suddenly filled with the most brilliant breath-catching orange light. I walked through the house, wondering at each glow-filled window as I made my way to the deck where I walked out to see that the sun had broken through the gray and was casting its rays upon a cumulus train floating over my house. I suddenly knew why I had listened to the voice telling me to get up and I sat right down and wrote a poem about it.

Then I read your beautiful story. A glowing sky has now become my sign as I push through the writing of a memoir about my childhood. You have reminded me of the importance of writing — and as I typed that, the sky began again to glow!!! Thank you for writing — I will soon be reading The Storyteller of Auschwitz — and your wonderful experience in Portugal is one more (among many), reasons to keep going there on my travel agenda! All best wishes to you, Siobhan!
